You've seen it at every online store, every magazine add; Each company claiming it's superiority over the other in a battle of the bottles. How much different can they really be? How can one system be almot a full pound lighter than another, they look identical!

I already owned a Pure Energy n2 tank, and I figured there couldn't be much of a difference. So when I set out to purchase a second tank for my new marker, I bought the one that was $20 cheaper - a Crossfire Skull.
I was so excited to get a new tank, brand new 5 year hydro, shiny new reg, no scratches!

I let my girlfriend and team mate Frosher use the Pure energy during a 24 hour scenario, so I had little time to compare the two before using the new one.
Now, a week later, rested fromt the event and bored from not playing - I held them both in hand, and decided to write a little something about them.

Surpizingly, and much to my disapointment - the 88ci Pure Energy tank weighs less than the 68ci Crossfire - the difference isn't much, about 1/2 lb - but it's definately noticable.
Also - the Pure Energy 88 is only about 1/2 longer than the 68 - as the bottle shapes are really quite different, and the shorter reg on the Pure Energy one really helps.
The Crossfire reg is a proven design, out performing nearly every regulator out there, and i had no problems with the LP output tank during the entire 24 hour event.

the PMI Pure Energy Reg wieghs in at 194.65grams and is 2 & 9/16ths of an inch long
the Crossfire Reg weighs in at 215.55grams and is 2 & 11/16ths of an inch long

Pure Energy systems use Luxfer gas cylinders the 68/45 wieghs in at 2.1 lbs (953.4 Grams)

After owning the two brands - I think I've made my choice - when the 88ci Pure Energy expires in June of 08 - I'll be buying another Pure Energy tank
