I have very limited knowledge when it comes to video equipment. Is this worth it? Seems like you almost couldnt go wrong with it.

quality on those cams isn't bad
hi-8 is about the middle of VHS quality and miniDV quality (which is what my camera uses)
may be worth it depending on the quality of the nightvision - our camera is listed as having "night vision" be the quality is noticably decreased and it really sucks. it'd be nice to get ahold of it and see if it's true nightvision, what generation it is if any, and what the CCL is on it as well
