Those of you who are interested in sharpening you role playing skills, I have stumbled accross a nationstate diplomacy style game. It is real basic, but provides a good way to learn how to deal with sticky situations. More then one scenario has been won by the army that got pounded, simply because they roleplayed their hearts out and got the better of the stronger team.
Likewise, the Alliance that I have joined up with has the same problem. Shortly before I joined up with the game and the Alliance, the leader of our 30 member band pissed off the perverbilal 900 pound gorrilla, the 900 member GOONS alliance.
At this point, the war seems to be winding down, and I have yet to be attached but am starting to get into the roleplaying of the event.
Anyone who wishes to just come watch the forums can go to the Cyber Nations forum (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/index.php?act=idx).
Our alliance is refered to as Farkistan, or Fark. (we met on www.fark.com (http://www.fark.com/index-sfw.html) , a news clearing site)
For those who are interested in joining up, go to www.cybernations.net (http://www.cybernations.net/default.asp) and sign up for a nation. It's all free, and while not self expanitory, lots of help is out there or you can stumble through it like I did. If you do sign up for a nation, and are interested in joining the Farkistan Alliance (easier to get trades, aid, etc as part of an alliance), join the PINK team (don't blame me, I would have voted green), and manually enter your alliance (OTHER) as FARK. After that, come to the Farkistan Forum (http://z8.invisionfree.com/Farkistan/index.php?showtopic=2) so that you can be properly brought into the group.
Most of the role-play takes place on the forums, and IRC, while the actual results of the role play can be seen in the game. Apparently, the mouthing off of our leader actually precipitated a Global War (GW2 to be exact). Amazing how the role play of a few players can affect a 30,000 player game...
